Meredith College is hosting a FREE concert with New River Ensemble for kids and families. The concert takes place on Sunday, February 16, 2025, from 1 to 1:45 p.m., at Carswell Recital Hall, Wainwright Music Building, 3800 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh, North Carolina.
New River Ensemble, a clarinet trio with members from New York City and Philadelphia along with Meredith College’s cello professor Lisa Liske, will play their own arrangements of pieces from Debussy’s Children’s Corner and they will show how music can describe animals in the zoo with selections from Camille Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals.
There will be a musical telling of the Native American (Haudenosaunee) Story of the Woman Who Fell from the Sky, a tale of how the world began.
Do or your child play violin, viola or cello? You can play some of the beginning songs you are working on and hear them played in a really different way in Book One Suite. If you know how to play Song of the Wind, Go Tell Aunt Rhody, or May Song from the Suzuki Method (D Major), bring your instruments! Arrive 15 minutes before the program so everyone can get tuned.
The concert is free, but donations will be accepted at the door.
