No matter how you like to celebrate Mardi Gras, there’s a party for you in the Triangle. Learn about a couple of the major events and then keep reading for a day by day list of Mardi Gras events that are free or cheap to attend in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and beyond. Drinks are on you though!
Most events take place either Saturday, February 10, or Tuesday, February 13, 2024. We include both family-friendly and adult events in our list.

Mardi Gras at Durham Central Park
Mardi Gras at Durham Central Park is a family-friendly daytime event in its second year. It takes place Sunday, February 11, 2024, from 12 to 5 p.m. It features free crafting booths where you can make shoe box floats or costumes, live music and dancing, second line parades every hour, a Glass Jug Beer tent and food trucks.
Hardli Gras
Hardli Gras is a daytime, family-friendly, pet-friendly celebration within Downtown Raleigh’s social district, on Saturday, February 10, 2024. Start at Tasty Beverage Company, 327 W Davie Street, Raleigh, then take part in a sidewalk stroll led by the Second Line Stompers., through Downtown Raleigh, ending at Crank Arm Brewing, 319 W Davie Street, where there will be live music by Mel Melton and Wicked Mojos, food from Bull City Eatery, and King Cake.
Durham Mardi Gras
One of the best traditions is Durham Mardi Gras. Put on your festive attire on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, and meet at the Bull at CCB Plaza, 201 Corcoran Street, Durham, at 5:30 p.m. The Bulltown Strutters will lead a jam at 6 p.m., and then there will be a sidewalk parade from CCB Plaza. Cajammers perform at Blue Note Grill at 7 p.m. and Bulltown Strutters perform at Motorco at 8 p.m. This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Durham Mardi Gras! There will also be music at The Pinhook and more.
Mardi Gras at Chavis Park
This free, family-friendly celebration takes place on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m., at John Chavis Memorial Park, 505 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Raleigh. Festivities will include music, food trucks, mask making and a bead giveaway.
