Jewish for Good (Levin JCC) is hosting the opening reception for The Sofia Davidson Collection on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., at the Marcus Family Gallery at the Levin JCC, 1937 W Cornwallis Road, Durham, North Carolina.
The reception is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are required and donations are welcome.
This exhibition features work from Holocaust victim Sofia Davidson, a Polish Jew whose paintings tell her life story.
Uncover the remarkable tale of one woman’s survival and resilience as a Polish-Jew during the Holocaust. Through her story, witness the strength and courage of an individual who defied the odds and persevered through one of the darkest periods in human history, all while ensuring the survival of her young daughter, Hannah, before her own.
This artwork collection offers a profound perspective and emotional depiction of the Holocaust as well as the hardships of the post-war era required, another survival story in itself. Experience the power and resilience of the human spirit through this captivating and thought-provoking collection.
At the reception curator Suzanne Horwich will share insights into Sofia Davidson’s creations. Light refreshments will be served, courtesy of Brandwein’s Bagels.
