Raleigh Parks and Oaks and Spokes are holding Learn to Ride events once a month from March to May, 2026, at Gipson Play Plaza at Dix Park, 715 Biggs Drive, Raleigh, North Carolina.
- March 14, 2026, 2 to 4 p.m. (sold out)
- April 11, 2026, 2 to 4 p.m. (registration opens March 28)
- May 9, 2026, 2 to 4 p.m. (registration opens April 25)
Registration is required and it sells out quickly. In fact, the March 14th event is already sold out, but you can set a reminder to register for the April or May events.
Volunteers will help participants gain a sense of balance and control on a bicycle, without training wheels, by using the balance bike method. A balance bike is a bike with the pedals removed, which allows riders to steady themselves using their feet.

Participants of all ages are welcome. A balance bike and helmet will be provided.
Riders are also welcome to bring their own helmet and bike. A bike mechanic will remove the training wheels and bike pedals. (These items will be restored on the bicycle.)
