Raleigh Parks and Oaks and Spokes are holding a free Learn to Ride event on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 9 to 11 a.m., at Gipson Play Plaza at Dix Park, 715 Biggs Drive, Raleigh, North Carolina.
Registration is required. Registration opens on August 13, 2025, at 12 p.m.
Volunteers will help participants gain a sense of balance and control on a bicycle, without training wheels, by using the balance bike method. A balance bike is a bike with the pedals removed, which allows riders to steady themselves using their feet.

Participants of all ages are welcome. A balance bike and helmet will be provided.
Riders are also welcome to bring their own helmet and bike. A bike mechanic will remove the training wheels and bike pedals. (These items will be restored on the bicycle.)
