LaMantia Gallery Raleigh, at 440 Daniels Street, Raleigh, is presenting the show “Discover The Art of Dr. Seuss” during the month of February.
LaMantia Gallery Raleigh will share a very rare selection of artworks from The Art of Dr. Seuss Collection. Visitors may explore and acquire works from Dr. Seuss’s best-known children’s books, as well as The Secret Art of Dr. Seuss, a mind-expanding collection based on decades of artwork, which Dr. Seuss created at night for his own personal pleasure.
The show will feature Theodor Geisel’s studies, finished illustrations, and even the “unorthodox taxidermy” sculptures that he did in the 1930s and 1940s. These are three-dimensional sculptures such as Carbonic Walrus, Two-Horned Drouberhannis, and Goo-Goo-Eyed Tasmanian Wolghast.
There will be opening receptions on February 6th and 7th, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. A representative of the Dr. Seuss Estate will be telling stories and behind the scenes information about the artwork.
It’s free to attend.
The gallery is limiting the number of guests per hour, to keep everyone safe, so please email james@lamantiagallery.com to save your spot.
If you can’t make it to the opening reception, the work will be there the rest of the month too.
