Krampus is a not-so-beloved figure in Central European literature. You could say he’s Santa’s enforcer, or the evil side of Santa.
If you want to be a Krampus for a night, or maybe a different Christmas folk monster, gather for the 5th Annual Krampus Walk on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
The group will be gathering at the Bull statue at CCB Plaza, 201 Corcoran Street, Durham, North Carolina, at 4 p.m. Everyone will admire each other’s costumes, and grab some photos, huddling for a group photo at 5 p.m. with St. Nicholas.
Then the horde will parade around Downtown Durham. They’ll circle back to the Bull, which will signal the end of the family-friendly portion of the evening.
Those 18 and older will go to Durham Central Park for the Durham Krampus Night Market and then to the Kotuku Surf Club.
Homemade costumes are highly encouraged but not required. Bonus points if you incorporate natural items like wood, bones, fur, leather, or moss into your costume.
