Keep Durham Beautiful is an organization that works with Durham communities and businesses to remove waste, and to plant trees and community gardens.
Keep Durham Beautiful is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, and works in partnership with the City of Durham’s General Services Department and Durham County to help residents take action through volunteer opportunities, tool lending, educational programs, resource coordination, and more.
Their efforts focus on litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, beautification and community greening.
Keep Durham Beautiful is holding the KDB Bulb Blitz in January, 2024.
They have over 100 packets of bulbs that can be reserved for your group on a first come first served basis. Bulb packets may include a mix of daffodils, tulips, lilies and more.
Durham groups including neighborhoods, community gardens, faith-based organizations, garden clubs, other clubs, schools, civic groups, businesses, and other organizations may register. The giveaway is not for individual homeowners.
Please register by midnight on midnight on December 31, 2023, to be considered. Pickup will take place outside at 2011 Fay Street between Wednesday, January 3, and Friday, January 5, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
To be eligible to receive bulbs, your group MUST:
- be located within Durham County
- have someone able to pick up on designated day(s)
- be able to plant within one week of receiving
- plant using volunteers of an eligible group in Durham
- plant in a space visible to the public such as in a community, school, faith-based or neighborhood common space or street front
