Imurj, at 300 South McDowell Street, Raleigh is a collaborative art and music space. Its 6,000 square foot underground space offers includes a cafe, bar, two stages, art studio, gallery, and production studio.

Poetry Night – Poetically Speaking
Sunday, December 8th, and December 22nd
6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Come through for an evening of poetic expression. Creative uses of poetry exposed by raw a capella vocals. Recited works and readings accepted.
The evening starts with a half hour writer’s block break-through session, followed by the mic opening up.
The bar will be serving beer, wine, cocktails, coffee & sodas as well as sandwiches, salads, & wraps.
Music Open Mic Wednesdays
Every Wednesday until December 19th, 2019
Beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Music Open Mic at Imurj is packed with some of the area’s best up & coming talent (plus professional bands occasionally roll through!). Come out & take in the amazing talent Raleigh has to offer every Wednesday starting at 7pm! Our open mic night is always free to watch or play!
Music Open Mic is a place for local musicians to showcase their talent & skills on our fully amplified main stage with a professional audio engineer on the soundboard. If you want to play, sign-up starts at 6:30 but we recommend you get there a little earlier!
–> Imurj Wednesday Open Mic provides an encouraging audience, a professional-quality sound system, and audio or video recording:
• for inexperienced performers to gain experience,
• for experienced performers to test new material, and
• just to have fun and network with the local music community.

–> They encourage all ages, genres, and skill levels to perform and attend but:
• • Flagrant use of explicit or disrespectful language will not be tolerated! Sound will be cut, if violations of this policy are noted.
–> 10 minutes for solo and duet performers
• This time includes set up and break down time, so instruments should be tuned and handy prior to stepping on stage.
• Requests for accompanying musicians from the audience must be confirmed before your performance time.
–> 15 minutes for bands
• Band = 3 or more members who play instruments (i.e. no backing tracks)
–> Performers with backing tracks should have them on a flash drive, and delivered to the sound engineer 20 minutes before your performance.
–> Use of house equipment should be arranged 20 minutes before your performance. Our host, Brian Jones, will assist you.
Brian Jones is your host for the night and runs the Facebook live stream of each performance. If you need house equipment, he will be able to accommodate you. Check out his page for the streams!
We strive to foster a diverse creative community, encouraging new talent and supporting one another. Original music is encouraged but covers are also welcome.
We provide a full backline of instruments and are a fully amplified with a professional sound engineer. If you’re not sure if you need something, feel free to message/call us and ask! If you have gear that you can’t perform your set without, please keep it to the right of the stage so the walkways are clear for everyone to move around the venue.
La Cueva Underground Dance Night
Thursday, December 12th and December 26th
18+, $8 cash admission.
Pedro Paz and Juan Matta have teamed up to bring you a very special night of Latin dancing. It’s an awesome space with plenty of room to dance and with lovely sections to kick back and socialize. The formula will be an even mix of Kizomba, Bachata and Salsa. There will be guest deejays and instructors coming up.

DRINK & DRAW at Imurj: Live Figure Drawing
Tuesdays, until January 28th
Bring your pencils, pens, paper, and artistic skill to Imurj and grab a drink at the bar. Tuesday Nights at 7 p.m. there will be a live clothed model pose for 30sec, 5min, 10min, and 20min intervals.
All skill levels welcome in this supportive and inclusive environment.
Fee (paid at the door):
