Hub RTP, 3151 Elion Drive, Durham, North Carolina, is hosting Art Uncovered, a free community scavenger hunt on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, where participants can uncover 13 original artworks from up-and-coming North Carolina artist Britt Flood.
Art lovers, adventure seekers and RTP employees–get ready to explore! Join us for Art Uncovered, an interactive scavenger hunt at Hub RTP in celebration of World Art Drop Day, a global movement where artists hide original pieces in public spaces for others to discover, in parallel to the unveiling of stunning new murals on the Hub RTP campus.
Follow clues, uncover hidden artwork and immerse yourself in the creative energy of the Hub RTP Outdoor Murals Project. Featuring 13 original pieces by rising North Carolina artist Britt Flood, this event promises artistic inspiration around every corner.
How it works:
- Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. and closes at 9:15 a.m. The hunt begins promptly at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2. (No early peeking!)
- All pieces are hidden in accessible, outdoor, publicly accessible areas. There’s no need to climb, dig or enter any buildings. Art will not be hidden in roadways, behind locked doors, anywhere dangerous, in construction zones, in or around parked or moving cars, in trash cans or in the Burdens Creek stream. Please respect the environment and avoid disturbing any plants, structures or private property.
- Pieces are available on a first-found, first-kept basis! If you find one, return to the check-in table to report your discovery, claim your artwork and receive an additional prize. If the piece you’re searching for has already been claimed, don’t worry – there are plenty more to find! We anticipate all pieces to be uncovered by 10:30 a.m.
- Each participant is limited to taking home one piece of art. Lucky finders are encouraged to continue exploring the large murals around Hub RTP or support fellow art hunters!
- Scavenger Hunt staff will be on-site to assist and will announce when the hunt officially ends, ensuring all hidden pieces are discovered.
Whether you walk away with an original artwork or a newfound appreciation for publicly accessible art, Art Uncovered promises a fun, engaging experience for all ages – blending art, adventure and community spirit!
