Spirit Freedom, the Orange County Historical Museum and the Northern Orange NAACP are presenting Sacrifices and Celebration — a Juneteenth Presentation. This free event will take place Saturday, June 18th, 2022, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Hillsborough Presbyterian Church, 102 West Tryon Street, Hillsborough.
Free and open to the public, attendees will explore the trauma, struggle, and triumph and achievements of African Americans through performances, storytelling, and discussions of little known Hillsborough figures.
Did you know we keep a big list of free fitness opportunities in the Triangle? The list includes yoga, bootcamps, group hikes and more, and we update it every day!
This event also will feature the acclaimed “Say Their Names” public art exhibit, designed and produced by Donn Young, Fred Joiner, Mike Ogle and Renee Price. Debuting at the Hillsborough Visitor’s Center during the 2021 Juneteenth celebration, the exhibit brings to light the truth of the Black experience in America since 1619. For 2022, the focus will be on the third panel that looks at the 20th century through to today.
Please note, parking is available near the church and in public lots in downtown Hillsborough.
Registration is requested for this free event, though walk-ins are more than welcome. Masks are also strongly recommended.
