Mark Hewitt Pottery, 424 Johnny Burke Road, Pittsboro, NC, opens to the public just a couple times of year, including their Holiday Kiln Opening Sale the first two weekends in December:
- Saturday, December 4th, 2021, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday, December 5th, 2021, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday, December 11th, 2021, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday, December 12th, 2021, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
For nearly four decades Mark Hewitt has been making fine-crafted functional and decorative pottery, using locally sourced clay and glaze materials (like granite and finely sifted wood ash,) and firing his pottery in a large wood-burning kiln just east of downtown Pittsboro, NC.
Shelves full of pottery are for sale in their big open barn/showroom, with the checkout table set up outside. Shop for comfy mugs, useful tumblers, plates, bowls, pitchers, vases, slab dishes…and more! This is a chance to buy yourself something special, or a beautiful and truly unique, locally made gift.
