Mark Hewitt Pottery, 424 Johnny Burke Road, Pittsboro, opens up to the public just a couple times a year. They’ll be holding a Summer Kiln Opening on Friday, June 11th, and Saturday, June 12th, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, and on Sunday, June 13th, 2021, from noon to 5 p.m.
For nearly four decades Mark Hewitt has been making functional and decorative pottery, using locally sourced materials, and firing them in a large wood-burning kiln in Pittsboro, NC. Twice a year he fires a kiln load of over 1500 pots, and opens his pottery studio for a “Kiln Opening.”
These are fun, festive events with plenty of pots for everyone.
Customers, friends, and family come from far and wide to wander inside the kilns, shop, chat, and enjoy the idyllic country setting surrounded by meadows and a pond.
Children are always welcome ~ there is a swing set and playhouse just to make their visit more enjoyable!
*Special Program for Chatham 250*

Hear about what brought him from England to Chatham County 38 years ago, and how traditional North Carolina pottery influenced that decision, and is reflected in his work.
