Haitian Flag Day Family Fun Day Celebration May 18

Haitian Flag Day takes place every year on May 18, the anniversary of of the day of the flag’s adoption.

Here are some facts about Haitian’s Flag:

• The flag was adopted by Haiti on May 18, 1803.
• The flag features horizontal bands of blue and red, adorned by a white rectangular with the coat of arms of Haiti.
• The coat of arms shows weapons on a green hill, with a royal palm symbolizing independence.
• Haiti’s motto is “L’Union fait la Force — with Unity there is Strength” is on the coat of arms.
• Haiti created the first independent nation in the Caribbean, born from a slave revolt in 1791.

Haitian Flag Day Family Fun Day

Haitian Flag Day Celebration — Family Fun Day is taking place on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 2 to 7 p.m., at Harold D. Ritter Park, 301 West Lochmere Drive, Cary, NC.

Tickets are $15 for ages 6+ and free for children 5 and under.
