Black Sheep Comedy is offering a FREE sketch comedy show, Growing Up is Sketchy, on Saturday, August 2, and Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 7:30 p.m., at The ArtsCenter, 400 Roberson Street, Carrboro, North Carolina.
Ever feel like growing up is just one big awkward mess… and being an adult isn’t any easier? Growing Up Is Sketchy dives headfirst into those moments when family dinners get weird, game nights spiral out of control, and ancient tech reveals secrets better left buried.
From parents giving you “the talk”, to campground neighbors treating quiet time as a personal crusade, this show explores all the moments that make growing up… well, sketchy.
Written by and starring Emily Armond, Emily Prins, Cayla Cason, Phillip Moser, and Jared Reed.
August 2: Also featuring a performance by LookOut, an improv duo from Carrboro. They’re sometimes funny, sometimes serious, never boring. These two friends have performed together on and off for over 20 years, and their familiarity with one another shines through in their stage work. Their improv is grounded in people you might meet in real life.
August 14: Also featuring a performance by Plot Holes, a narrative improv team that creates an unforgettable story on the fly. Based on an audience suggestion, Plot Holes weaves a cohesive story with no discussion ahead of time, no plan – just eccentric characters and inevitable plot holes. Fall into a story no one saw coming!
