The Durham County Library isn’t just for books! You can “check out” seeds at the library too.
The Digging Durham Seed Library offers vegetable, herb, and flower seeds that you can take home for free to plant. Every season you can take seed packets, and if you grow plants from the seeds, you can donate seeds from those plants for others to check out.
At each participating Durham County Library, you’ll find seeds, as well as a brochure with information about planting and caring for them. The seeds are usually available from mid-February to October. First come, first served.
You may take up to four seed packets per season. You don’t need a library card.
