Wilson Jazz Festival is bringing you Root Down Collective, who will be leading a jazz jam from 4 to 7 p.m.
Root Down Collective is a Raleigh based jazz group founded on fun and engaging music from every era of the jazz tradition. The band is led by saxophonist Garret Hitmar who takes inspiration from greats such as Dexter Gordon and Stanley Turrentine. The rhythmic foundation of the band consists of Silas Seigler on drums, Chris Mills on bass, and Brandon Shamar on piano.
This is an open event for musicians! Drums and keys will be provided but bring your own instrument if it’s something other than that. All are encouraged to join in on the jam!
The event features FREE gumbo and beads. Costumes encouraged. There will be a special announcement from Wilson Jazz Festival.

The second Tuesday of every month Jonathan Hose (of Matty Begs) hosts an open mic. Come out and show us any talent you have. Musicians, singers, comedians, authors, magicians, and anyone else!
The purpose of this recurring monthly Open Mic is to provide a safe space to showcase your craft, whatever that may be.
