The 11th Annual Day of the Dead 5K takes place in Downtown Raleigh on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
The event, presented by Centro Mexican Restaurant, takes place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and celebrates tradition, community and diversity. It benefits the Brentwood Boys & Girls Club.
The event also includes art, food, music, dancing, local beer and costumes.
The race starts in front of Centro, at 106 S Wilmington Street, Raleigh, and goes through Historic Oakwood Cemetery and ends up back at Centro.

There will be two Dia de los Muertos altars, one on Wilmington Street, and one at Historic Oakwood Cemetery. Everyone is invited to leave offerings of flowers and written messages in memory of their loved ones.
There will also be an art corner for the kids, sponsored by Artspace, face painting by Paint Savvy, a dance-off costume contest and more. There will also be a kids’ dash.
All registered runners age 21+ will get a free Day of the Dead Trophy brew.
The cost to register for the 5K:

You don’t have to register for the kids’ dash or the other activities. Centro will be open with food and drinks for all after the race.

- 9 a.m.: Street Festivities strt
- 9:45 a.m.: Stretching time
- 10 a.m.: 5K starts
- 11 a.m.: Kids’ Dash
- 11 a.m.: Performance by Alma Latina
- 11:20 a.m.: Costume contest
- 11:40 a.m.: Dance performance by Zebulon Club
- 11:45 a.m.: Awards Ceremony
