Pianist Dr. Anthony Lee is performing in a free concert on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 4 p.m., at Saint Francis United Methodist Church, 2965 Kildaire Farm Road, Cary, North Carolina.
The concert will be based on Dr. Lee’s year in Budapest, Hungary where he was a Fulbright scholar at the Liszt Academy. There he immersed himself in the rich culture of the vibrant city as he researched the legacy of the great Hungarian musicians who passed through the historic institution.
The concert will feature unique pieces such Dr. Lee’s own arrangement from the Hungarian opera; HunyadiLászló, based on a story of kings from the 15th century; and a mixed arrangement of Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody no. 19, featuring passagework from Vladimir Horowitz and Gyorgy Cziffra. Tony will offer personal insights from his concert experiences, as a listener and as a performer, and also share highlights from interviews with prominent musicians as well as information about the close-knit historical crossroads of Budapest and the Liszt Academy.
