Conversations Between Four Black Music Makers Who Helped Bring About Abolition is an original play with music by United Strings of Color.
The play uses mixed media arts to educate about the lives, countries, times, systemic laws, and iconic contributions of the four Black abolitionists: Ignatius Sancho, Joseph Bologne “Chevalier”, Solomon Northrup and Frederick Douglass.
United Strings of Color will play music by two of the Abolitionists and of the era. At each performance there will be pre-show interactive, immersive activities in the lobby.
The immersive activities are presented by:
- The Frederick Douglass Foundation of North Carolina
- United States Colored Troops American Civil War Re-enactors
- The Richard B. Harrison Library Mollie Huston Lee Collection
- Forge Fencing Foundation
- Caroline Copeland Sancho Dances Project
- Mallarmé Music
The play is being performed three times. Two of the performances are free to attend.
