Truth + Tamales is a free, recurring event at The ArtsCenter, 300-G East Main Street, Carrboro. It’s a community activity with the mission to strengthen relationships, build community and bridge cultural gaps through human connection.
This bilingual (Spanish/ English) project will meet during the 2018-19 school year to create collaborative artwork for exhibition in our community in June 2019.
Each session of Truth + Tamales includes art making, tamale making (led by community tamaleras), sharing truths and socializing.
It takes place Wednesday, November 7th, and December 5th, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Some things to know:
- You don’t need to be bilingual to attend
- You don’t need art experience to attend
- Food allergies and dietary needs can not be accomodated
- Parking is free
Project partners Mary Carter Taub (artist), Barbie Garayua Tudryn (counselor) and José Nambo (teacher) will lead the Truth + Tamales sessions with support from local organizations including The ArtsCenter, FPG Bilingüe and El Centro Hispano.
