Book Harvest is presenting their first Ruby Bridges Literary Day on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Book Harvest Family Space, 2501 University Drive, Durham, North Carolina.
This is a free event.
This community gathering will honor the legacy of Ruby Bridges and the ongoing importance of creating literacy rich, culturally affirming learning spaces for children.
Kwame Mbalia, creator of the Tristan Strong trilogy and the Jax Freeman series, will be at the event for a special author reading and book signing. Come celebrate the power of stories to reflect, inspire, and expand what children believe is possible for themselves.
The first 30 families to arrive will harvest a copy of one of Kwame Mbalia’s works to take home.
