Here at Triangle on the Cheap we’ve been big fans of Reevestock Music Festival, in Elkin, North Carolina, almost from its beginning. We’ve personally been attending every year since 2012! One Triangle on the Cheap reader will win two tickets to the festival on Saturday, August 6th, 2022, just by leaving a comment to this post.

This road trip from the Triangle is worth the drive!

The contest will start on July 18th and end on July 25th, 2022.

The headliner in 2022 is Hiss Golden Messenger.

About the Festival

Reevestock Music Festival, which takes place on Friday, August 5th, and Saturday, August 6th, 2022, is a small,  family-friendly music festival in a beautiful setting that’s about two hours from the western edge of the Triangle.

This is possibly the most comfortable, relaxed music festival in North Carolina. According to Glide Magazine, “Everything you kind of hate about festivals doesn’t happen here. Reevestock is the way festivals would be in an alternate, better universe.” 

If you come up for the weekend and have some time before the festival starts on Saturday, or Sunday morning, make sure to check out some of Elkin’s amazing hiking trails, including this hike from an Elkin winery to a waterfall. (You can shorten the hike and just go to the waterfall.)

The festival is the brainchild of the North Carolina folk/rock band Time Sawyer. It’s a fundraiser to provide college scholarships to students in Elkin, NC, the hometown of two Time Sawyer band members.

The festival features nine bands and artists (three on Friday night and six at the main event on Saturday), food trucks, wine, craft beer and more.

Note: There’s limited space on Friday, so make sure to get those tickets ASAP.

Day 1–Friday, August 5th, 2022

The kickoff to Reevestock takes place at The Reeves Theater, 129 West Main Street, Elkin, North Carolina. The Reeves is a renovated theater in downtown Elkin.

The music actually starts outside the Reeves, in the free Downtown Get-Down Block Party at 5:30 p.m., with a performance by Luke Mears with Robert Holthouser

Then it continues at a ticketed event in the Reeves Theater, featuring Stillhouse Junkies with Justin Clyde Williams. The show starts at 8 p.m.

The party continues with Reevestock’s “Late Night Hoot” at Angry Troll Brewing, with a free show at 10 p.m. by The Jakob’s Ferry Stragglers.

Day 2–Saturday, August 6th

Saturday, August 6th, 2022 is the main event. Gates open at 12 p.m. and the festival goes until 10 p.m. Reevestock offers the public a rare chance to visit and explore Elkin’s Hidden Amphitheater, a privately owned entertainment venue in a wooded, park-like setting with rolling hills, a running stream, waterfalls, hammock chairs and swings. This is an extremely family-friendly festival.

The main event on Saturday features:

The headlining artist on Saturday, performing at 8:05 p.m., is Hiss Golden Messenger, led by
Durham-based songwriter M.C. Taylor. Hiss Golden Messenger’s 2019 release, “Terms of
Surrender,” was nominated for Best Americana Grammy Award. Two 2021 releases have been
nominated for A2IM (the American Association of Independent Music) Libera Awards, Quietly
Blowing It (Best Americana Record) and O Come All Ye Faithful (Best Spiritual Record.)

Also performing on Saturday will be Momma Molasses (1 p.m), Handmade Moments (2:15
p.m.), Dreamroot (3:40 p.m.), host band Time Sawyer (5 p.m.), and Daniel Donato (6:30 p.m.)

    We love Triangle on the Cheap. We are relatively new to North Carolina, having moved here from Atlanta in 2020. One of the first things we did was sign up for Triangle on the Cheap after having been Atlanta on the Cheap subscribers for many years. We’ve learned so much about our new tri-city home. Thank you for all you do. And yes, we would love to check out Reevestock Music Festival!
