
The Town of Apex is celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. from January 16 to 19, 2026. All of these events are free and for all ages.

Black Authors Exhibit
On Friday, January 16, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., the Black Authors Exhibit will take place at Apex Senior Center, 63 Hunter Street, Apex, North Carolina. Join community members to meet and hear from Black authors, who will each have time to talk about some of their recent books.
The Creative Contest award ceremony will be taking place too. K-12 students may enter this essay contest. Learn more here.
Light food and refreshments will be available.
MLK Unity March and Breakfast Reception
On Saturday, January 17, 2026:
- 8:00 am: Gather for March at Apex First Baptist Church (419 S. Salem Street)
- 9:00 am: March begins at Apex First Baptist Church and goes down Salem Street toward Town Hall Campus
- Around 9:30 am: MLK Commemoration Breakfast Reception in the Apex Senior Center (63 Hunter Street) with speakers
MLK Day Worship Service
The MLK Day Worship Service will take place at Apex First Baptist Church, 419 S Salem Street, Apex, North Carolina. Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 11 a.m. If you’d like to participate in a community choir, please sign up here.
National Day of Service
The National Day of Service is a defining moment each year when people across the country unite in service. During the last 25 years, the MLK Day of Service has inspired people to actively improve communities.
For 2026, the Town of Apex is offering two ways to contribute.
Join fellow community members in packing bagged lunches and writing letters of support with Brown Big Ministries at John M. Brown Community Center, 53 Hunter Street, Apex, NC. January 19, 2026, 9 to 11 a.m.

Drop off donations for the Dorcas Ministries Donation Drive, taking place from December 1 to January 19. Learn about the items needed.

- John M. Brown Community Center (53 Hunter Street)
- Halle Cultural Arts Center (237 N. Salem Street)
