
Liberation Station, at 430 Hill Street, Raleigh, North Carolina, is North Carolina’s first Black-owned children’s bookstore. It’s a place where Black children can see themselves beautifully reflected in the books they read.

Liberation Station is hosting an all-day Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
All of the activities will be free, but there will also be ample time to support the store and local literary community through purchases.

Juneteenth Saturday Celebration
The store will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p .m.
- 9 to 11 a.m.: Sweet Potato Pies & Storytime. Start your morning with stories that nourish the soul and a taste of tradition. Enjoy a special Juneteenth storytime and receive a free slice of sweet potato pie with any bookstore purchase while supplies last.
- 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Black Out Author Showcase. Meet Black authors, illustrators, and storytellers whose work is shaping the next generation of readers. Discover new books, hear their stories, and support Black literature.
- 2 to 3 p.m.: Dear Reader Candle Company Pop-Up. Books and candles belong together. Shop literary-inspired candles crafted to bring your favorite reading moments to life.
- 3 to 5 p.m.: Jam & Jubilee with Miss Nikki. Join us for an afternoon of music, movement, and celebration designed especially for children and families. Expect singing, dancing, and plenty of joy.
- Following Jam & Jubilee: The Jubilee Parade. The celebration moves outside with a joyful community parade honoring the spirit of Juneteenth through movement, music, and togetherness.
- 5 to 6 p.m.: Kids Paint & Sip. Young creatives are invited to paint, create, and celebrate freedom through art in a fun, family-friendly experience.
- 6 to 9 p.m.: Open Shopping Hours. Wind down the evening by browsing our carefully curated collection of Black children’s books, gifts, and treasures while supporting North Carolina’s first Black-owned children’s bookstore.
