Fullsteam Hot Sauce Swap
Monday, April 1st, 2019
After seeing how excited everyone was about spicy stuff at Love at First Spice, we decided to make our own Fullsteam Hot Sauce Club!
The first Monday of every month, we’ll swap & share spicy sauces white-elephant style and pick themes for future club meetups.
Our first meeting is April 1st (no joke) and the theme is salsa. Mango, habanero, tomatillo, mole… anything goes. Just bring your favorite to swap and share with other members. Sauces can be homemade (make sure include a list of ingredients) or store-bought. We’ll have spicy food specials and plenty of beer to help the heat, including a Mole Brown Ale!
Click the following link to sign up for the club and RSVP to our first meeting: https://fullsteam.wufoo.com/forms/x184xtkg1tm4ixt/
Note: you have to sign up for the club to attend monthly swaps.
Durham 150th Tap Takeover
Friday, April 12th, 2019
2 p.m. to midnight
Join us to celebrate North Carolina Beer Month and Durham’s 150th anniversary with special beers from seven Durham-based breweries, including Fullsteam!
To celebrate Durham’s birthday — and the city’s diversity — the city’s seven breweries brewed a beer with a local Durham partner. For our beer, we collaborated with Goorsha Durham to brew a Tej (wine) and Tella- (Ethiopian homebrew) inspired Amber Ale using NC honey and Ethiopian gesho.
On April 12th, we’ll put all seven Durham 150 beers on tap:
Ponysaurus Brewing and Dashi (Szechuan Peppercorn Ale)
Starpoint Brewing and NanaTaco (Tortilla Mexican Lager)
The Glass Jug Beer Lab and Durham Distillery featuring Conniption Gins (Belgian Witbier with Gin Botanicals)
Bull City Burger & Brewery and Durham, N.C. (Durhamer Ale)
Fullsteam Brewery and Goorsha Durham (Tella/Tej Beer)
Barrel Culture Brewing and Blending (partner and beer TBD)
Durty Bull Brewing Company (partner and beer TBD)
Can’t make April 12? The Glass Jug Beer Lab is also hosting the Durham 150 beers the day prior (Thursday, April 11).

You Can’t Spell BEERS without BEES–Bee event and spelling bee
Saturday, April 20th, 2019
1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
To celebrate this year’s Earth Day theme of ‘Protect our Species,’ we’re throwing an all-out bee-fest with honey beer, bee-related vendors & non-profits…and a spelling bee with a twist.
We’ll have ten competitors onstage spelling for the bees at 3pm. If a contestant spells a word incorrectly, audience members can buy them extra lives starting at $25 and increasing in increments of $25 for each subsequent life.* And they’ll need quite a few… this isn’t your middle school spelling bee.
All contest proceeds will go to Keep Durham Beautiful’s Pollinator Project, so we’re looking for contestants who aren’t just brainy, but also interested in raising money to support this cause. To sweeten the deal, the winner gets a ‘Honey Pot’ with a variety of bee and non-bee related prizes.
If you fit the above description, sign up here to spell for the bees: fullsteam.ag/4thebees
In addition to the 3pm Spelling Bee, we’ll host local organizations and vendors at the tavern from 1 – 4pm: live bees, bee-related products (mead, honey, & more!), seeds, and other educational tools.
So join us and help support your local pollinators! You might even learn out how to spell APIARIST along the way.
*$25 is the cost of three pollinator plants. If you can’t make it to the event and would like to make a donation, click the following link. Please include You Can’t Spell BEERS without BEES and the name of the contestant you’re sponsoring (if applicable) under ‘Your Note for the Donor Scroll.’
