If you or your family needs a helping hand with food, there are several organizations in the Triangle that regularly distribute food. We’re creating a list of some organizations that might be able to help you. This list will include both scheduled food distribution events and food pantries.
Make sure to follow the links so that you can see the organization’s website. That’s where you’ll be able to get the answers to your questions and to see their most current schedule.
Jump to a day by day list of upcoming food distributions.
Some organizations require recipients to have a referral to qualify to receive food, but some don’t.
If you are involved in an organization that has a food distribution program you’d like to see on this list, please fill out this form.
Food Assistance Resources
Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina
A great resource to find food pantries, soup kitchens, etc. is the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina Website which can be found here.
With this link, you can put in your exact location and find agencies within a chosen distance from your location. Hours of operation may change and differ, so it is recommended to contact the agency before visiting. This locator includes food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and mobile food distributors on a color-coded map.

The Durham Area Food Resources Map can be found here and helps you find food pantries, kids’ summer meal programs, farmer’s markets that accept SNAP and WIC, and grocery stores that accept SNAP and WIC.
FindHelp.org
Plus in your zip code at findhelp.org and you can search for food resources, as well as help with health, housing, legal matters and more.
Farmers’ Markets (SNAP/Double Bucks)
A list of farmers’ markets in the Triangle area can be found here. Many of these markets accept SNAP and offer a Double Bucks program where money will be matched to a certain amount.
While we do our best to keep this list up-to-date, some markets listed may offer Double Bucks or accept SNAP where it isn’t noted, so it is always good to check with the specific market or program about what they accept/offer before attending.
North Carolina Department of Public Instruction
The Department of Public Instruction website has a resource list that can be found here that provides information about lunch programs, breakfast programs, snack programs, fresh fruit and vegetable programs, summer nutrition programs, and more for students.
