Tropical Smoothie Café is using National Flip Flop Day to raise money for a good organization.
Tropical Smoothie is trying to achieve an ambitious goal of raising $1 million for a small, but mighty organization in Casco, Maine called Camp Sunshine. Camp Sunshine is a retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Since 1984, the organization has helped more than 50,000 kids and their families from all over the world. By replacing hospital visits with canoe rides, card games and lifelong friendships, it helps children leave their illnesses behind for a week.
On National Flip Flop Day, Tropical Smoothie is giving away free “Sunshine Smoothies” in honor of Camp Sunshine. In exchange, it’s encouraging customers to donate the money they would have spent on smoothies to the organization. Since 2007, Tropical Smoothie has raised more than $5.3 million to send over 2,000 families to Camp Sunshine. Another $1 million raised this year would send 400 new families to Camp.
