Ecstatic dance is a free-form, spontaneous form of dance where participants move to music without any specific steps. If you’d like to try ecstatic dance, some local dance set weavers are hosting Saturday Afternoon Ecstatic Dance at Durham Friends Meeting, 404 Alexander Avenue, Durham, North Carolina.
There’s no cover charge, but donations are accepted to help cover the rental fee of the venue.
Saturday Afternoon Ecstatic Dance is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. on:

- Saturday, September 26, 2026
These events include 80-90 minutes of unstructured free form dance. There are no rules or steps, but there is no conversation during the dance. Chairs are set out, if needed. People may dance in any combination, or solo.
Schedule:
- 4 p.m.: Arrive
- 4:10 p.m.: Circle Up
- 4:15 to 5:45 p.m.: Dance
- 5:45 p.m.: Closing circle
- 5:50 p.m.: Socialize
- 6 p.m. Clsoe
