The 11th Annual Day of the Dead 5K takes place in Downtown Raleigh on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
The event, presented by Centro Mexican Restaurant, takes place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and celebrates tradition, community and diversity. It benefits the Brentwood Boys & Girls Club.
The event also includes art, food, music, dancing, local beer and costumes.
The race starts in front of Centro, at 106 S Wilmington Street, Raleigh, and goes through Historic Oakwood Cemetery and ends up back at Centro.

A highlight of the event will be the Dia de los Muertos altars. Everyone is invited to leave offerings of flowers and written messages in memory of their loved ones. One altar will be at Oakwood Cemetery and one on Wilmington Street.
In addition, enjoy arts and crafts, face painting, a kids’ dash, a performance by Alma Latina, a dance-off costume contest and more.
All registered runners age 21+ will get a free Day of the Dead Trophy brew.
The cost to register for the 5K:
- $35
You don’t have to register for the kids’ dash or the other activities. Centro will be open with food and drinks for all after the race.
