This is a strange and unusual deal. Burger King is taking direct aim at McDonald’s.

Through Wednesday, December 12, grab your mobile device and head to McDonald’s to get a Whopper for 1¢. Yes, McDonald’s!

First, you need to download the new BK mobile app.

Next, you need to place your order for the discounted Whopper, while within 600 feet of a McDonald’s.

The Whopper Detour promo works by geofencing McDonald’s locations, meaning if you’re inside a geofenced area, the new BK app will unlock the Whopper-for-a-penny deal.

Then, once the Whopper is ordered, you will be “detoured” away from McDonald’s, as the app navigates you to the nearest participating Burger King for pick-up. Limit one per customer.
