
Johnston County is commemorating America’s 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence at several events in 2026, including walking tours, a historical marker unveiling, a mural dedication, bus tours and more. You can see all the events here.
On June 27, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Johnston County is hosting America 250 Fair on the campus of Johnston Community College, 245 College Road, Smithfield, North Carolina.
This is a FREE event and everyone’s welcome.
The festival includes:
- A living history encampment by Camp Flintlock, including a parade and cannon firing
- Art and history displays presented by the Johnston County Arts Council and the Johnston County Heritage Center
- Puppet show hosted by the Woman’s Club of Clayton
- Carriage rides
- Food and craft vendors
- A juried Art and Photography exhibition
- Information booths from local organizations
