This is possibly the most comfortable, relaxed music festival in North Carolina. According to Glide Magazine, “Everything you kind of hate about festivals doesn’t happen here. Reevestock is the way festivals would be in an alternate, better universe.” And “the quality of the musical lineup is way out of proportion to the festival’s size.”
On Saturday, August 5th, 2017, Reevestock offers the public a rare chance to visit and explore Elkin’s Hidden Amphitheater, privately owned entertainment venue in a wooded, park-like setting with rolling hills, a running stream, waterfalls, hammock chairs and swings. There will be free kids’ activities at the festival. Headlining will be The Marcus King Band. Marcus King, at just 21 years old, is gathering accolades for his rough-hewn, soul-infused, fiery, roots-Americana music. Also performing on Saturday will be the hard-driving bluegrass band Town Mountain (up for two IBMA awards this year), folk/rock band Time Sawyer, North Carolina legend David Childers, William Wild and the Corey Hunt Band.
The pre-festival kickoff party on Friday, August 4th, is free and takes place at The Liberty in downtown Elkin. The theme of the evening is “A Southern State of Mind.” The region’s music will be interpreted by Swim in the Wild, Late Night Special, Luke Mears Band, Tyler Hatley and more. Food and drink will be available for purchase.
The festival is the brainchild of the North Carolina folk/rock band Time Sawyer. It’s a fundraiser to provide college scholarships to students in Elkin, NC, the hometown of two band members.
Passes for the main event on Saturday are only $20. Kids 12 and under are free. In addition, you can save money by purchasing a “friends & family 4-pack” in advance. Purchase tickets online or at the gate.
