Background: On November 20, 1819, the General Assembly of North Carolina established government in the Town of Chapel Hill by appointing its first Commissioners. Two hundred years later, in the fall of 2019, we celebrate the agencies, organizations, peoples, and places that have made Chapel Hill the community it is today.
