The North Carolina State Capitol is hosting a free weekly walking tour, We’ve Always Been Out There. It will focus on the history of protest and civil rights in Raleigh.
The tour takes place every Friday in May and June, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The walking tour is just .5 mile, and covers topics from the early 19th century to the 1980s. It includes the Civil Rights movement, women’s suffrage, prohibition, the anti-Vietnam War movement and Raleigh’s first pride parade.
The tours begin on the east grounds of the Capitol, near the Three Presidents statue, facing Wilmington Street.
