On Thursday, October 10th, 2019, at 5 p.m., North Carolina Poet Laureate Jaki Shelton Green will speak at a free event at the Pleasants Family Assembly Room of Wilson Library at The University of North Carolina, at 200 South Road, Chapel Hill.
This is a free event.
There will be a reception at 5 p.m., and the program will start at 5:45 p.m.
Poet, teacher, arts advocate and North Carolina Poet Laureate Jaki Shelton Green will read from and discuss her work. Green is the first African American and the third woman to serve as the state’s ambassador for poetry and the spoken word.
This program is presented in conjunction with the exhibition “Enriching Voices: African American Contributions to North Carolina Literature,” on view in the North Carolina Collection Gallery at Wilson Library, from October 10th, 2019 to January 31st, 2020.
