Here’s what’s coming up:
Join Shannon as she shares how meditation and various mindfulness resources have helped her as a parent. During the workshop we’ll talk (and practice) mediation and discuss the integration of mindfulness into family life. You’ll come away from this workshop with examples of mindfulness tools and some practice in using them.
Shannon Salentine is a parent, leadership coach, and global program director. Over the last five years Shannon and her husband have been cultivating a spiritual practice for their family that is aligned with their values, the developmental stages of their children, and what feels right. In this effort, Shannon’s family discovered a community of parents dedicated to practicing mindfulness. Through this community and her own self-immersion, Shannon developed a strong appreciation for the tools mindfulness offers parents and a practice that serves her daily.

Family Cooking Class with Chef Jeff Seizer of Royale
Sunday, April 22nd
12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Free, but you need to register
Chef Jeff Seizer and Teacher Sally Stark-Dreifus are teaming up to offer a fun filled afternoon of culinary creations. Chef Jeff will teach your children safe knife skills while Teacher Sally brainstorms everyday cooking challenges at home, for example how can I get my child to eat more vegetables, the time crunch of getting ready in the morning versus a healthy breakfast, afternoon snack ruts, and more.
Then parents and kids will work together to cook a healthy make ahead breakfast dish (veggie frittata muffins). While that is cooking, Sally and Jeff will work with the kids to create their own afternoon snack, making one for you and one for them to eat at the end of the workshop( fruit yogurt parfaits). Everyone will take home their frittata muffins for the following morning!
Partner with your child in simple poses and breathing exercises that will help to strengthen coordination and build body awareness.
Irene is a clinical psychologist, a mom, and a yoga teacher. She has been practicing yoga since 2002 and teaching yoga since 2011. Her interest in teaching yoga grew from wanting to integrate yoga into her clinical psychology practice and also wanting to share her love of yoga with others in her community. She loves both the physical practice of opening and moving her body and the mental peace and grounding that she experiences through yoga. Irene also loves the energy and playfulness that kids bring to yoga.
We will use a variety of yarn & thread to create multi-textural weavings. Parents & children can collaborate on a single weaving or work independently on a pair of weavings that complement one another.
Come spend some time collaborating with your child in a fun workshop exploring three types of printmaking. Whether you love the process or have never tried it before, this workshop will invite you play, experiment and create beautiful works of art using mono-printing and two types of relief printing.
This workshop may be messy, please wear your work clothes.
