The first ATO Be The Match Bacon Run will take place Sunday, September 24th, at 7:30 a.m. It’ll go along the Old Well Route through the UNC Chapel Hill campus. It’s being presented by Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and Alpha Phi sorority.
It will raise money for Be The Match, which helps save patients with life threatening blood cancers by adding members to the National Bone Marrow Registy in hopes to find transplant donor matches. It also funds research and transplants.
At the end of the race participants get free bacon, courtesy of Waffle House, this event’s bacon sponsor.
Early entry before September 10th costs $25 and also puts your name in a drawing for an additional complimentary registration. Registration before the 10th also guarantees a shirt and correct size. Later and race day registration will be $30.
Participants of all ages can sign up as competitive, racing chip timed, or simply as recreational, self-timed for slower runners and walkers taking part in the 5K event.
Follow the Facebook event for updates, but register on the Be The Match Foundation website for the race.
