Pleiades Arts, at 109 E. Chapel Hill St., Durham, community-focused, artist-driven contemporary art gallery founded in 2013 by Renee Leverty and Kim Wheaton, who are both artists.
By juried invitation, Pleiades represents a group of talented, Triangle-based artists in diverse media who are participating members of the gallery. The artists are Mark Abercrombie, Teddy Devereux, Tom Dunne, Gray Griffin, Renee Leverty, Lucia Marcus, Darius Quarles, Nate Sheaffer, and Kim Wheaton.
TRUTH TO POWER 5: Our fifth annual community show about matters of social justice at local, national, and international levels

“Truth to Power” is a juried show open to NC artists that focuses on matters of social justice. This year marks the fifth installation of this powerful and thought-provoking exhibit hosted by Pleiades Arts, Inc.
Power of the Page–a night of poetry and truth-telling

8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
In conjunction with the Truth to Power exhibit, Dasan Ahanu, E.A. Holton, and members of the Bull City Slam team will present a night of poetry and spoken word at Pleiades on Thursday, July 27th from 8-10 pm. Books of poetry by the artists will be available for sale.

SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED: Can you build it? For this exhibit all artists will work with the concept of “assemblage” (an artistic form started by Picasso in which 3D elements project out of a base or substrate)
