Durham’s Phoenix Fest is the annual cultural celebration of Hayti, one of North Carolina’s oldest historic African American communities. It bills itself as “Durham’s funkiest street festival.” It takes place Saturday, October 1st, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fayetteville Street. Admission is free. The festival features a parade, all-day entertainment, food and vendor displays. The parade kicks off at 9 a.m. at Elmira Avenue.
