Prodigal Farm, 4720 Bahama Road, Rougemont, is holding its last spring Open Farm Day on Sunday, May 29th, 2016, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. It’s free to attend and you can play (gently) with the goat kids, meet the milking does, tour the dairy, enjoy our 95 acre farm, and taste delicious cheese. Listen to live Americana/folk music, from Miss Rosie. Watch blacksmithing demonstrations by Randy Stoltz of the Triangle Blacksmithing Guild. Also see a beekeeping demonstrations by Emily Ingram, who keeps hives at the farm.
A couple things to know:
- Open Farm days run from 1 until 5. Please don’t come earlier
- Please carpool. Fewer cars means less wear and tear on the fields.
- Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty.
- No dogs (the farm dogs are not good hosts for other dogs).
- Avoid dangly jewelry or fringe.
- Bring a picnic if you want — and round it out with cheese from the farm. Bring a cooler to take some home with you.
- There will be bottled water for sale, but best if you bring your own water bottle.
The farm is at 4720 Bahama Road, Rougemont. GPS and googlemaps generally tell you to go too far north, and steer you to the wrong side of the street. As you head north on Bahama Road, the farm is on the right, a few driveways past the Hampton Road intersection (which doesn’t have a stop sign). The entrance will be marked with balloons.
