Many people love to see the ballet, The Nutcracker, during the Christmas season, and the Triangle always affords several chances to do so.
Performances are presented by youth and adult groups, and include both traditional presentations and performances with innovative twists.
Included this list are The Nutcracker, which is the full ballet, and The Nutcracker Suite, which is a selection of eight numbers from The Nutcracker.
Although tickets to some productions are not “on the cheap,” there is a production for every budget, and we’ll be on the lookout for discounts as well.

Carolina Ballet’s “The Nutcracker”
Carolina Ballet will be performing The Nutcracker December 12 to 24, 2024, at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. The performance features a live symphony orchestra. Ticket prices vary.
Jill M. Taylor Dance Company’s Nutcracker
Jill M. Taylor Dance Company produces a traditional, full-length production of The Nutcracker. It takes place Sunday, December 15, 2024, at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., at Rolesville High School, 1099 E Young Street, Rolesville, NC. Tickets are $23 to $25 in advance, and $27 at the door.
Hip Hop Nutcracker
Hip Hop Nutcracker is a holiday mash-up, featuring a reimagined version of the classic, hip hop dance, a DJ, and more. It will be at Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) on December 28, 2024. Tickets are $39.50 and up.
Caroline Calouche & Co.
Caroline Calouche’ & Co.’s Clara’s Trip provides a contemporary twist on the holiday classic, with electrifying aerial dancing. It will be at Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh on December 20 and 22, 2024. Tickets start at $40.
Cary Ballet’s Nutcracker
Cary Ballet Company is presenting The Nutcracker Suite and The Nutcracker on December 7, 2024, at Martin Marietta Center for Performing Arts – AJ Fletcher Opera Theatre in Raleigh. The company is also presenting The Nutcracker, The Nutcracker Suite, and a sensory-friendly Nutcracker Suite, from December 20 to 22, 2024, at Cary Arts Center. Nutcracker! Magical Christmas Ballet
Nutcracker! Magical Christmas Ballet features world class performances, artists, designers and choreographers. It will be at Durham Performing Arts Center on December 24, 2024. Ticket prices start at $36.50.
Triangle Youth Ballet
Triangle Youth Ballet will perform The Nutcracker at Carolina Theatre Durham December 12 to 14, 2024, with a special needs performance on December 11, 2024. Ticket prices TBA.
