Museum of Life + Science, at 433 W Murray Avenue, Durham, North Carolina, has a special event planned for Solar Eclipse Day. Monarch Butterfly Eclipse takes place Monday, April 8, 2024, from 2 to 5 p.m.
The museum will be closed, but the event will take place on the south side of campus, and will be free to the public.
The migratory route of Monarch Butterflies resembles the path of the solar eclipse, so at this event participants will not only experience the partial eclipse, but will also learn about butterflies and pollinators.
The eclipse will start at 2 p.m., peak at 3:15 p.m. (with 80% of the sun obscured) and will end at 4:30 p.m.

Watching the Solar Eclipse Safely
Eclipse glasses will sell out (they did in 2017!) so don’t delay in purchasing them. Here are a few best sellers, but please read all the specifications carefully to make sure that they are safe.
You can also watch the solar eclipse indirectly with a pinhole eclipse viewer.
