The Levin Jewish Community Center, at 1937 West Cornwallis Road, has a rich and varied slate of events and activities. The entire community is invited to most of the events. You can see their whole calendar here.
Here is a hidden gem: The JCafé at the JCC bakes challah loaves and rolls, and cinnamon and chocolate babka every week, and also for holiday festivals. All from scratch.

Challah loaf: $6. Order by Thursday at 7 p.m. for Friday pickup.
Challah rolls: $2 each. Order by Thursday at 7 p.m. for Friday pickup.
Chocolate babka: $14. Order by Wednesday at 7 p.m. for Thursday pickup.
Cinnamon babka: $12. Order by Wednesday at 7 p.m. for Thursday pickup.

Let’s Talk Ugly (Produce)

Crops grow in a variety of shapes and sizes, so why is supermarket produce incredibly homogeneous? Come learn what’s behind that paradox, and why you should care about ugly produce.
Author Jonathan Bloom will discuss the ins and outs of quirky fruits and vegetables with an all-star lineup from the local food scene:

- Courtney Bell: founder of Ungraded Produce, a local startup selling ugly produce
- Cathy Jones: Farmer and co-owner of Perry-winkle Farm

Jewish Disability Awareness & Inclusion Art Show Opening Reception

Join the Levin JCCmin celebration of the the Levin JCC’s Jewish Disability Awareness & Inclusion Art Show, featuring an impressive variety of work from people with disabilities and allies from all over the state. Meet some of the artists, view the art on display, and bid on the pieces for sale to support local artists with disabilities.
This event is free and open to the public.
Family-friendly with games and opportunities to make your own art. Wine and light hors d’voeuvres will be served as attendees check out the art in the Marcus Family Gallery. The event will end with Havdallah at 5:45pm, to which all faiths are welcome. Havdallah is a ceremony that marks the end of the Jewish Sabbath.
