NC State Department of History presents History Weekend October 4th and 5th, 2019.

The events all take place at Withers Hall, 101 Lampe Drive, Raleigh. Read on for the details of each event.
7:30 PM: Withers Hall, Rm 140. Dr. Blight will screen hour two of the documentary, Reconstruction: America after the Civil War. Following the screening, there will be a short Q& A session with Dr. Blight.

Main Event, Withers Hall 232A
David Blight, Sterling Professor of History, African American Studies, Yale University. “Composite Nation: Frederick Douglass’s Vision of a Multi-Ethnic America” The lecture will discuss Frederick Douglass’s post Civil War vision for a new, reconstructed, re-imagining of America – a second founding, in which the country had the opportunity to create an unprecedented multi-ethnic, multi-racial republic.
