Help crown the king or queen of grilled cheese sandwiches by coming to the Grilled Cheese Cookoff at Raleigh Downtown Farmers Market, City Plaza on Fayetteville Street in Raleigh, on Wednesday, June 29th, 2016. The cheese celebration will be going on from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Chefs from Jimmy V’s Osteria + Bar, Rye Bar & Southern Kitchen, Buku Raleigh, Linus and Pepper’s, and P.G. Werth’s will be cooking up their special takes on the grilled cheese sandwich from 11:45 p.m. to 1 p.m. It’s free to try samples and to vote on your favorite. Donations will be accepted.
In addition, sandwiches will be on sale from American Meltdown. Look for specialty cheese vendors Hillsborough Cheese Company and Orrman’s Cheese Shop.
Live music will be provided by Urban Soil Trio.
