Better Business Bureau and Coastal Federal Credit Union are hosting “Secure Your Id” Day on Saturday, October 15th, 2016, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Coastal headquarters, 1000 St. Albans Drive, Raleigh. Community members can bring up to three boxes of documents to be shredded, as well as up to five electric/electronic devices. Accepted items are computers, cell phones, tablets, TVs, printers, fax machines, vacuums, DVD/CD players, microwaves and toasters. At the event, community members will be directed through the parking lot to stations where they will watch their paperwork and devices be safely destroyed and recycled, never having to leave their car while helping protect their own identities.
To date, the semi-annual “Secure Your ID” Day events have safely destroyed nearly 400,000 pounds of sensitive documents and nearly 100,000 pounds of electronics.
