Forrest Fenn is a wealthy collector who was diagnosed with what he thought was terminal cancer. He then decided he wanted to give back some of his acquired gold, rare coins, and valuable gems. So he hid a treasure chest worth $2 million dollars somewhere in the US Rocky Mountains, and released a poem with nine clues as to where it is. Now there are around 30-50,000 people a year from all over the country (and world) who are looking for it.
Forrest Fenn did this to “get kids off the couch and away from their texting machines.” The treasure hunt and film’s mission is to inspire families to spend more time outside.
