North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics presents the 2nd Annual NCSSM Jazz Festival on Saturday, May 7th, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s open to the public and free for all to attend. It takes place at 1219 Broad Street in Durham.
The North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra will be featured as the headliner group Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., along with NC native Lennie Foy, a trumpeter and member of the jazz faculty at DePauw University and Interlochen Summer Arts Camp.
Throughout the day student groups will perform on two stages. Groups include jazz bands from many high schools, including NCSSM, and also the Triangle Youth Jazz Band.
Food trucks will be on campus most of the afternoon.
