All Ye Who Pass By–A Good Friday Choral Service of Tenebrae
The ESUMC Chancel Choir, soloists and chamber orchestra unite to present a deeply moving experience of music and spoken reflection for Good Friday. The Service of Tenebrae (from the Latin meaning “shadows”) follows a tradition of the church dating back to the eighth century and is sure to be a highlight of your Holy Week observance.
April 11th, 7:30 p.m.
A Festival of American Composers
Composed of some of the Triangle’s finest professional musicians, The Oak City Chamber Orchestra presents a true “Americana” program featuring the music of Aaron Copland, Samuel Barber and George Chadwick. The orchestra will present the original version of Appalachian Spring (entitled A Ballet for Martha and composed specifically for choreographer and dancer, Martha Graham), Barber’s Knoxville – Summer of 1915 and Chadwick’s String Quartet No. 4. Featured performers for the evening will include the
winner of the Edenton Street Live 2016 Young Artist Dance competition (Copland), local soprano Kathryn Mueller (Barber) and the Aurora Musicalis String Quartet (Chadwick).

Music of the Masters: Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven
The Edenton Street UMC Festival Singers and professional orchestra present an evening of classical symphonic and choral literature featuring Mozart’s Overture to ‘Cosi fon tutti’, Haydn’s Te Deum in C and Beethoven’s Mass in C.
