More information:
The Christ Church Schola Cantorum, representing many of the finest choral singers in the Triangle, is joined by the North Carolina Baroque Chamber Players to perform two of Bach’s most profound cantatas. Written when Bach was first discovering the art of vocal composition, both cantatas, 106 (Actus tragicus) and 131 (Aus der Tiefen) are made up of beautiful solo arias and expressive choral movements. The works will be separated by the joyful Brandenburg Concerto No. 6, written for Prince Leopold at the Court of Cöthen. A fitting prelude to the time of Holy Week, this concert will be conducted by David Jernigan and is free and open to the public.
