NC State University’s departments of Animal Science, Poultry Science and Food, Bioprocessing & Nutrition Sciences in the College of Agriculture, and Life Sciences offer Farm Animal Days, a FREE program for kids and families.
The event, hosted by the Lake Wheeler Road Field Library, takes place at NC State University Beef Educational Unit, 4505 Md Pines Road, Raleigh (2 miles south of I-40)
It happens just once a year.
It’s taking place Wednesday, April 17, to Friday, April 19, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.It’s designed for school field trips (pre-school through first grade), but families and individuals are welcome to attend.
Families do not need to sign up. You can just show up.
It takes about an hour to experience everything at the event, and the least busy times are 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Here’s what’s going on:
- Animals to see: Pigs, Sheep, Goats, Beef Cow/calf, Dairy Cow, Horses, Poults
- Pardoned Turkeys, Chocolate and Chip
- Tractors on display
- Molly the Cow and Porky the Pig
- Informational presentations at the Dairy Advantage Trailer
- Grass area for picnic
- Free Ice Cream!
- Displays from Jr. Wolfpack Club, NC Cattlemen’s Association, NC Pork Council, NC Small Grain Growers, Wake County Farm Bureau, NC Egg Association, NC Soybean Producers, NC Sweet Potato Growers, Yates Mill Association
- One hour is sufficient to see all the exhibits.
